The room was too full!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education -&gt; Need TA students to solve real-world problems<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tech Art training sounds like its best done on a person-by-person basis, so many skills that can\u2019t be taught in classroom<\/li>\n<li>Find the ones that have a talent or interest in it? Are they problem-solvers? Do they tinker? Do they teach other students?<\/li>\n<li>Have potential TAs do a rotation through IT (Or expand role of lab   monitors to really include troubleshooting student issues, and pump  TAs  through that)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do you institutionally encourage this behavior?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Documentation, Tools-writing, Tinkering, Helping other students<\/li>\n<li>Potential TAs need to get work done too, establish rules so they can get it done<\/li>\n<li>Mentorship of younger TAs by established ones in school?<\/li>\n<li>Hire students to act as tech artists in on-campus facilities?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tech Artists are Force Multipliers, Firefighters, and Preemptive Firefighters<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Look Development\n<ul>\n<li>Shaders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Tools programming<\/li>\n<li>Problem-solvers<\/li>\n<li>Riggers\n<ul>\n<li>Tech Animators<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Outsource Wranglers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>They MUST work alongside artists, be embedded with them (works well at Volition)<\/p>\n<p>TAs need people and managerial skills<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>How do you test tech artists right out of school?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tests<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Games are innovating faster because teams are smaller and more agile than film<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How do you optimize across multiple platforms?
